State Law Library: Its Past, Its Present, and Its Future (?)
The Supreme
Court Library is the oldest law library in Alabama
and the first library in Alabama
created by legislative enactment. In 1887, Library Journal listed
the Supreme Court Library as Alabama’s
largest with 17,626 volumes. Founded in 1828, over the past 185 years the Law
Library has suffered fire, secession, invasion by hostile soldiers, the ravages
of technological change, yet still serves the Courts, the Bar, and the People
of Alabama.
This program will explore the Law Library’s rich past, its present state
(including a tour of the Law Library), and what the future holds.

1:00 - 2:00: Top Research Errors
Committed by Summer Associates, Some Practicing Attorneys, and Even a Few Law

During lunch,
each table will nominate, discuss, and rank the top research errors on summer
associates. This will be followed by the entire group discussing the
errors and compiling them for publication on our web site. Then John will
present his list a la David Letterman and the Tonight Show’s Top Ten Lists.

Fall 2012 Meeting details
Save the
date!
The LLAA 2012 Fall Meeting will be Friday November 16th at Cumberland School of Law, Samford University - Birmingham.
We will have a special guest speaker - Greg Lambert from 3 Geeks and a Law Blog!
Blythe McCoy with Westlaw Librarian Relations will also be a presenter.
Finally, we will have a panel of our librarians to discuss technology in our libraries.
It should be a fun meeting!

The LLAA meeting will be held in Room A112A-B. It's on the first floor of the new addition to law school building next to the cafe.
